The act of kneeling and prostrating in Yoruba culture is deeper than respect for elders.
Kneeling in Yoruba is IKUNLE which means to fill the earth. Its a symbol of fertility and harvest.
Prostrating in Yoruba is IDOBALE which means to meet the earth, its a symbol of planting and fertility.

In Yorubaland, money has never been at the top of Yoruba value system.   In the Yoruba value system money is number 5, what are the first 4? The first is laaka'ye which is the application of ogbon, imo, oye (knowledge, wisdom, understanding).
